Hints for uses in your library This activity was developed as part of a toolkit for museum staff and includes a suite of online resources in English and Spanish to engage learners in any setting. Adapt this activity by inviting participants to create "secret messages" on black paper with colored wax pencils. Then have them pass their messages to a partner to examine through colored filters -- demonstrating that filters can make hidden aspects of an image easier to see. Make sure to have lots of NASA images and videos for everyone to see how astronomers use filters to study the universe.
